Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil

James Dodson (also directed)

From the characters to the plotting to the set pieces, there’s very little that isn’t stock in Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil.  Between its Reagan-era ideals and a wannabe Joel Silver look, the movie feels as though it was made 20 years past its time. When Navy SEALS Neil "Spaz" Calahan (Matt Bushell) and Lieutenant Robert James (Nicholas Gonzales) get stranded in North Korean (read: enemy) territory after their mission is aborted, they must rely on both training and friendship in order to make it home alive in this celebrity-free, straight-to-video sequel to the 2001 film that features competent action sequences and dialogue that comes across as if it was lifted from the Medal of Honor sound-byte library.  The director’s commentary, along with the featurettes, is focused on producing the movie on such a tight budget, and offers little insight into the film's writing.
