Scrubbed
By deirdre mcgill
The Chumscrubber
Zac Stanford

Despite the stellar cast (Jaime Bell, Glenn Close, Ralph Fiennes, William Fichtner, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rita Wilson), this black comedy by novices Zac Stanford (writer) and Arie Posin (director) is neither fun nor edgy. Chumscrubber's dysfunctional tale includes the aftermath of the death of a teenage boy and a case of mistaken identity as a teen trio holds a boy hostage for drugs. What could have been a sophisticated plot comes off as just ho hum when based on Stanford's lackluster script, bolstered by docu-drama dialogue like, "Kids see an average of 20,000 dead bodies over a lifetime." They're marketing this film for Generation Rx, but it's made for Generation Zzzzz.
