Little Britain Live

Written and performed by Matt Lucas and David Walliams

BAFTA-winning writer-performers Matt Lucas and David Walliams bring their hit sketch comedy series to the stage with Little Britain LiveA series of ongoing sketches featuring recurring characters drawn from the fringes of UK society, Little Britain lampoons the eccentricities of the British Isles and their inhabitants while creating a sense of pathos for even the most grotesque individuals.  An informative commentary featuring Lucas and Walliams details how they overcame the challenges of act to life while capitalizing on the live nature of the show with sketches designed for audience participation and occasional jazz-like improvisations within the scripted text.  Rarely used TV characters like arcane Scottish hotelier Ray McCooney (Walliams) make memorable appearances, while fan favorites like lovestruck Prime Ministerial aide Sebastian Love (Walliams) benefit from a more theatrical canvas.  Deleted and alternate sketches showcase the tour's evolution by offering less successful sketches from the earlier engagements alongside the polished pieces in the DVD show, while drama is added in the form of a tension-filled one-hour documentary chronicling Walliams' 2006 attempt to swim the English Channel for charity.
