The Closer: The Complete Third Season

Created by James Duff

Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson's (Kyra Sedgwick) Priority Homicide Squad is forced to contend with politics and personal crises as TNT's The Closer investigates another season of baffling crimes. Creator James Duff and his writers have created an eccentric ensemble to support Johnson, and each character gets a moment in the spotlight as the team investigates diverse cases ranging from a long-dead gangbanger with Lieutenant Provenza's (G.W. Bailey) business card in his pocket to the death of a much-reviled government auditor who might have been romantically involved with Assistant Police Chief Will Pope (J.K. Simmons). Alongside the episodic investigations, the writers amp up the serialized subplots, with Johnson suffering an emotionally delicate medical situation while her well-meaning Georgian parents become recurring visitors to both the police department and her increasingly cramped home. Alongside an array of deleted scenes, The Closer's third season boasts possibly the most hysterical and compelling teaser of the year with a dead blonde falling out of beloved policeman's casket on the church steps in "Saving Face" and a memorable attack on bureaucracy when Johnson's team must undergo WMD training while working on a case in "Dumb Luck."
