The Art of Absurdity

The Best of...What's Left of...Not Only...But Also...

Peter Cook & Dudley Moore

Cobbled together from what’s left of their 1965-1970 sketch comedy series, The Best of...What’s Left of...Not Only...But Also... showcases the comedy of British satirical vanguards Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, elevating the absurd to the sublime.  A forerunner to Monty Python, the show parodied everything from Thunderbirds to Tom Jones, and featured oddities like a one-legged actor auditioning for Tarzan, as well as a recurring sketch in which two working-class characters would pontificate on philosophical matters, sequences that made extensive use of Cook’s uncanny improvisational skills.  A seriocomic documentary on the duo is included as a supplement.
