Head of Writing for Film, Television & Interactive Media (Posted 10/11/07) — Vancouver Film School programs focus on industries that use moving images, graphics, sound and text as fundamental components for communication, information and story. VFS programs regularly and continually evolve in response to the current industry methodology, technology and need. VFS offers world recognized, full-time, one-year programs in Film Production, 3D Animation & Visual Effects, Classical Animation, Digital Character Animation, Sound Design, Writing, Acting, Makeup Design, Digital Design, Game Design and Foundation Visual Art & Design. These one year programs are intensive, focused on the field of study and immerse students in industry-like settings and situations in order to best prepare them for work in their chosen field.
VFS is currently accepting applications for a full-time position of Head of Writing for Film, Television & Interactive Media.
As part of the senior administration team, the Department Head reports to the Managing Director and works with other Heads of Department and Directors to support Vancouver Film School objectives. The Department Head will build on the current programming and financial platform established for the past two decades, enhance community involvement both internally and externally and present a more unified public face for Writing for Film, Television and Interactive Media program offered at VFS.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who is knowledgeable about learning and will be sensitive to the unique role of the visual arts programs within VFS and industry along with strong business acumen. S/he is committed to continuing the artistic and academic excellence, accessibility, and innovation of VFS programs.
The successful candidate should be an excellent communicator, supervisor and mentor as well as having a proven track record or “script writing credits” in Film, Television and/or Interactive Media. An M.F.A or PhD along with evidence of success in academic administration would be an asset.
